This dashboard compares student groups, by gender, race, disabilities status, and economically disadvantaged status, on a number of metrics related to coursework.

- Filtering is an essential part of analyzing data. Clicking on “Filters & Legends”
will bring up all the applicable filters on the left margin. The filters can be used to remove certain values from a result set. The filters include: 1) School Levels - Elementary, Middle, and High; 2) School; 3) Student Race; 4) Student Gender; 5) Students with Disabilities (StuDsb); 6) Economically Disadvantaged (EconDis); 7) EWS Overview Status; 8) Attendance EWS; 9) Behavior EWS; 10) Coursework EWS; 11) Grade Level. Click on the cross icon 
to hide the filters. Click on the circle arrow 
to reset the filters, and this is especially helpful when a user gets lost in the data drill down. - For instance, if a user only wants to look at data of black students, the user can use the Student Race filter to select “Black - African American” and deselect the rest. The charts on this dashboard will all be updated to reflect only black students. For the race grouping, only black students’ data will be shown and students of all other races will be excluded. And for the gender grouping, the user will look at only black male, black female, black non-binary, black unknown. The same for the groups for students with disabilities and students of economically disadvantaged - all groups only reflect black students.
- When users rest the pointer/mouse over any mark in the views, tooltips will appear which include details. These tooltips offer a convenient way to view the underlying data.
- The Student Enrollment chart above shows the number and percentage of enrolled students in each group. This chart presents the raw overall composition of the student body. The percentages in each grouping (of race, gender, students with disabilities, and economically advantaged) add up to 100% of the entire student population. This chart is included in all three student group comparison dashboards. It serves as the baseline that users can use to detect discrepancies in other charts on this page.
- The Coursework EWS by Demographic Type chart above shows the percentages (and numbers when the bar is hovered over) of students by Coursework EWS status in each group. Users can use this chart to identify if certain student groups are disproportionately having Early Warning or Needs Interventions status.
- The SOL Pass Rates chart shows pass rates of each student group for SOL Reading and Math assessments. Users can use the “Select Year” filter to select a particular school year over the past ten years.
- The Students Identified as With Disabilities and Gifted chart shows the percentage of students in each demographic group identified as with disabilities, gifted, or both (Twice Exceptional). The chart can be potentially used to determine if overidentification or underidentification has occurred.
- The AP Course Enrollment chart shows the percentage of students in each demographic group that are currently taking 1 AP Course, 2-3 AP Courses, and 4+ AP Courses. Users can use the “Select Year” filter to select a particular school year.
- Similarly, this Dual Enrollment chart shows the percentage of students in each demographic group that are currently taking 1 Dual Enrollment Course, 2-3 Dual Enrollment Courses, and 4+ Dual Enrollment Courses. Users can use the “Select Year” filter to select a particular school year.
- The chart combines the data from the previous two charts together. It shows the percentage of students in each demographic group that are currently taking 1 Dual Enrollment or AP Course, 2-3 Dual Enrollment or AP Courses, and 4+ Dual Enrollment or AP Courses. Users can use the “Select Year” filter to select a particular school year.
- This Percentage of Student Body by Category chart provides a different way to split the same set of data. The summary sentence provides the total number of students who are enrolled, identified as with disabilities, taking one or more AP courses, and taking one or more Dual Enrollment courses. The chart further shows the percentage that each student group accounts for the total student enrollment versus the percentages that the group accounts for the total numbers of students on the four metrics. Since some of the metrics, such as AP course and Dual Enrollment course participation, are more relevant to high schools, an additional filter of “Select High School or Non-High Students” is provided. The percentages in each grouping (of race, gender, students with disabilities, and economically advantaged) for each metric add up to 100%. Ideally, the bars for the percentages of various categories should be equal to the enrollment percentage bar. If the bars for certain groups on certain metrics are larger than the enrollment percentage bar, then they should be looked at for action to improve.
